Piano Tuning

“Very pleasant, and thoroughly professional in how he handled the tuning of my piano. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a top notch job.”

Rugged Cross Records

Regular tuning is essential for maintaining your piano’s sound quality and ensuring it stays at the correct pitch. Whether your piano was last tuned a few months ago or several years ago, we are here to help.

Pianos go out of tune primarily due to changes in temperature and humidity. As the relative humidity goes up, the soundboard swells, increasing its crowned shape and stretching the piano’s strings to a higher pitch. Then during drier times the soundboard flattens out, lowering tension on the strings and causing the pitch to drop. Frequent or intense playing can also contribute to a piano going out of tune.

For best results, it is recommended that your piano be tuned every six months. This will help to keep the instrument in tune and at pitch for longer, making it more enjoyable to play. However, if you tune your piano at least once a year, this will prevent it from drifting too far out of tune.

We bring a level of care and attention to your piano that it deserves, at every tuning!

Mrs A. Zeijlstra

“Very thorough and detailed explanation and excellent tuning, exceptional and prompt and very reasonable service, our piano sounds like new! Thank you so much Mark!”

Mr J. Stephen

“Mark has reinvigorated the harmonies of a piano that’s been in the family for more than 50 years. His attention to detail and careful explanations about the various issues and what he is doing, are beautifully enhanced by his humor and brilliant stories about the piano world and its performers. The fact that he didn’t run screaming from the house at the first off key twang of the keys, is a testimony to his nerve and dedication. Wonderful work from a true craftsman.”
